Thetis Island Renovation Update!

Progress is great on this major renovation and the homeowners are very pleased with how smoothly everything is going. We couldn’t have asked or better weather for this project either! Now that the weather has turned in to fall rain and wind, the interior finishing is getting under way. Did you know that Tamlin can per-manufacture tons of components in a home so that in the winter months, getting the home to weather tight lock up stage is fast and saves time on on-site labor costs? We were fortunate that this project happened in the summertime, so there was not a rush to beat the bad weather. If you are thinking about building or renovating, give us a call. We would love to give you information on our process and tell you how we can keep your project on time and on budget.

Thetis Island Renovation

Tamlin has built on Thetis before and is very familiar with remote island access and the logistics of such builds. We also have an amazing transportation company that we use for all of our remote builds. He has a truck that fits onto most of the ferries and their height and length restrictions. The homeowners wanted to maintain the waterfront look of this unique cabin and incorporate the original front framed portion to fit into the redesign. The homeowners had outgrown the quaint cabin and wanted a new and larger living space. This new layout has timber frame components and is much larger and open then it was before. The renovation went smoothly, on time and on budget.

Cold Lake Alberta – Cedar Log Home Project

Another Tamlin custom log home is being built in Cold Lake, Alberta. Just as the basement and floor system were completed, the main load of house package materials arrived on site. Tamlin sent two experienced log installers for this 3,000 sq ft custom milled log home. They were supervising the local crew and homeowners who are “hands-on” with construction. The owners Carrie and Tim are thrilled with the quality of the solid Western Red Cedar logs and they commented that the natural smell of the cedar is “awesome”.

The logs are completely pre-cut, pre-drilled, pre-notched (corners) and even have pre-routered receptacles and switch boxes to make electrical finishing simple. The log walls are anticipated to be completed by the end of next week. Stay tuned for more blogs from Cold Lake!
